Day 86: Abe Is My Medicine (Cabinet)

Isn't this what everyone's medicine cabinet looks like?  No?
This one was pretty fun to stage though. What do I consider medicine....well, most definitely Abe, he's helped me out of some dark times, smokes...can't live without 'em anymore.  There are a couple of funny ones in there if you look really close.

Then I had to figure out what message I would write to my time travel boyfriend.  Tell him to wait for me?  YES!  Combine two things I love, Eternal Sunshine and Abraham Lincoln again.  The first time I did these two together was for Valentine's Day.

ABE, MEET ME IN MONTAUK...

Day 85: Wok N Roll Was the End of Abe?

On this Throwback Thursday edition of Abe A Day, we time travel back almost two years ago in October, our story set in the Nation's Capital...

With my family all migrating to the East Coast, I have been visiting DC during all the different seasons.  I thought, October! My favorite month, my birthday, always the best weather the year has to offer, go to DC during that time.  That was two years ago this October, also during my two week stay was a two week furlough of government workers.  Do you know what the furlough did to DC? Hahaha, it was a ghost town, the only sites open were those owned by private interest groups.

If I sound like I'm complaining, I'm actually not...at the time I was a pill, but in retrospect it was great.  At the time I was bummed out by all the things I would miss on that trip, but sometimes something like a furlough makes you get a little creative with your travel agenda. During that trip I went to Lincoln's Cottage, twice, the Lincoln Tapas Restaurant, learned how to ride a subway like a native, watched some Werner Herzog documentaries with my Grandpa, got a little drunk most nights, smoked too many cigarettes most days, but had more fun than I did on my virgin visit to the city on the 4th of July.

I'm spoiled to have the family I do with their varied interests, but NERDS, the whole lot of em.

We knew this place existed, but didn't know the precise location so after an insane meal at the Lincoln Tapas Restaurant my family and I wandered the streets of DC looking for the Surrat House....and maybe some, or a few, or a lot of tasty beverages along the way.
HEY! I'm on vacation! Can I live?????

This particular little restaurant located in the heart of DC's Chinatown is humbly called "Wok N Roll Restaurant."  This wasn't always so...hahaha.  About 150 years ago it was the house where John Wilkes Booth planned and conspired to just kidnap the revolutionary 16th President.  On the night of the attack, most people know Lincoln wasn't kidnapped, but later died of a gunshot wound to the back of the head by the coward John Wilkes Booth....HOWEVER!  Do youze guys know that other members of his cabinet were attacked as well that night by the cronies of Booth.  Seward survived a knife wielding house intrusion with just a slight scar to the face....if only everyone had been so lucky that night.  Le sigh.

Day 84: Abe Lost Somewhere in the Middle of Nevada

For those who know, the long drive between Las Vegas and Reno is a long one. I spotted Abe on some old billboard, somewhere around the town of Mina, Nevada.

Day 83:Abe Clothes Hang out to Dry @ Sushi

One of my good friends happen to notice that those drapes looked jusr like what Abraham Lincoln's shirt would be like.  Super long and skinny.

Keep your eyes open, Abes be everywhere.
