Day 177: Abe in the Library

Another glorious find in the library that will one day be the Imagination Land I envision.  I now have enough books to make a whole Lincoln section!  I bet the kiddos will be just as excited, or maybe not.  Let me dream.

Day 176: 70 Year Old Abe Book Found

I know I've been out of the loop. Again. For way too long. One of my favorite quotes from the lips of Penelope Cruz is: "Every passing second is a chance to turn it all around."
This is that second.

I've been working hard at my elementary school. I am in the process of creating a library and teacher resource center. It's a big task, but I'm just the little lady to do it!

In one of the hundreds of boxes I unpacked I found this little gem. A book called Abraham Lincoln by James Daugherty. The copyright inside says 1943, making this book 70 years old! It's barely hanging on, the binding is falling apart, but I swear by all things Lincoln I will mend it back to health.

This is the author's introduction for the book, a two page beautiful poem. People just don't write books like this anymore.

I love the table of contents. Breaks down Lincoln's life into the critical years. Not only that, this book is heartrendingly beautiful to read. I can't believe I stumbled upon such a treasure.

Day 158: Langston Hughes's Abe

I love poetry, and guess who else did?  Of course the answer is my time travel boyfriend, Mr. Lincoln.  This was an amazing book I found of Langston Hughes poetry that is appropriate for children.  I adore that he has a beautiful poem about Abe.
