Day 31: Halle Abe

I went home early from work today because I'm pretty sure I'm coming down with something awful. So, Johnny was so awesome and made me an Abe for today. I did say to add the mole though, so I feel like I had creative input. Thank you Johnny!

Day 30: Abe Wallet

I made this out of a book cover. I haven't had time to read this awesome book my Mom bought me for Christmas, but I plan to get it done over spring break.

Day 29: Guerilla Abe Quotes

Yeah, I know I need an iphone 4 for about a million reasons, but one is definitely for the flash. This little piece of guerilla Abe-ing says: "A friend is one who has the same enemies as you." I'll try to go back sometime today and get a better picture of it in the light.

Day 28: Abe's Mug

I do love this silhouette style thing and the new sealant I've been playing with. You can put it on anything and do so many things with it! For example, it waterproofs things, you can do image transfers with it, and it makes everything shiny.  Those are only things that I've found on the surface...I haven't even investigated all of it's powers.

Also, my adorable friend Hannah sent this picture over of herself and A. Lincoln.  Just to let you all know,  I kinda expect everyone to send in a picture of themselves and some Abe Love sometime over this year and only Hannah and my sister Nicole have done so thus far.  Get busy people!

Day 27: Abe, White & Blue

Today was a crazy day.  I woke up super early for school, then spent all afternoon with friends drinking and crafting. It was one of those days when the things you did earlier that morning feel like they happened a week ago.  By the end of the night I was having coffee with Eben, reading Adi's book and getting an Abe face paint tattoo on my arm.  I love my life.

Day 26: Shrinky Dink Abe Talismans

I feel like my Mom has been lying to me. How is it with all the years of crafting we've done, she missed ever showing me Shrinky Dinks? I had to find out from a Venture Brothers episode.  My little sister Jayme made the silhouette one on the right and I made the simple honest hat on the left. Apparently even, they make Shrinky Dink paper that you can print from the computer. This might be my new favorite craft!

Day 25: Lady Luck Pin-Up Abe

Tuesday's are going to be pure hell for me. Class at 8, work twice, Abes, Homework, and I want to try to go to yoga because a day of all that destroys my back.
I decoupaged my bookshelf forever ago with a ton of pin-up girls as you can see here:

And if you closely you can see I Abed one of the babes out. Haha.

Little Lady Luck Abe.

Day 24: Abe Family Picnic Circa 1925

Winchell's has these awesome pictures of Tahoe in the 1920's all around the bar.  I walk past them everyday and finally my little Abe obsessed heart couldn't take it anymore. I caved and don't you judge me. If you ask me, this picture is about a million times better now. It's the little things.

Also, don't forget to vote for Winchell's Pub & Grill for the Best of Las Vegas 2011. We should win for Best Bar Food, Best Hamburgers, and Best Breakfast...Vote!

Wonder how long it's going to take anyone to notice this at work.  Or how little trouble I should be in for it because it's so funny. Did I mention you should vote for Winchell's in the Best of Las Vegas 2011 ?

Day 23: Salty Abe

Oh, so happy to have these on my table. Emancipation Proclamation Salt & Pepper shakers.

Also, my Steelers won today. Here's my victory pose and my sweet tattoo.

Day 22: Abe Tattoo

Saturdays are for getting drunk on Baileys & Coffee with your family and sporting your Abe love. Gangsta.

My tiny sister also made me this awesome logo. She's such a great artist!

Day 21: Abe Coaster Part Deux

Can't fall asleep so I stayed up and made an Abe. Coasters come in 4, right? I'll have to finish the other two up soon.

Day 20: Stencil Abe

I'm so excited for tomorrow! I'm going to see the Weezer Wizards! Let's not get ahead of ourselves though, tonight I worked on stencils. Hopefully, I'll be getting to put these out in some interesting places.

Day 19: Skully Abe Shirt

It's great my brother is growing up so fast because he gives me all the clothes he grows out of. This is convenient because as it turns out I dress like a 15 year old boy. Today I took a Vans shirt of his, sewed a hat outline on that sucker and then used some fabric glue to secure a full fuzzy beard. Can't wait to wear it out.

Day 18: Abe Coaster

1st day, back to school Spring 2011. Such a long day. Class at 8am, went to work twice, journeyed to Boulder City to pay a bill, and I managed an Abe in there somehow. I made this drink coaster with my favorite Lincoln picture. He looks so skinny here! On that note, I'm gonna eat some pizza and go into a food coma.

Day 17: Flower Pot Abe

It was a beautiful day outside today! I went to Trader Joe's to get some flowers for my Lincoln pot and met who may be the coolest employee they have! I had this crazy conversation with a Michael Clarke Duncan look alike about how we wished there was a room made of flowers, on the walls, ceilings, everywhere. Why can't everything be that simple? What an awesome guy. Anyway, here are those flowers and my Abe pot!

At work tonight Johnny was awesome enough to create this sweet Abe Ornament. Two Abes in one day? Yeah, I'm on it SON!!!

Day 16: Abe Facts with Cassie

It's been a great weekend. I've had great drinks, great food and great company from some great friends. I had ribs! Yes! With raspberry chipotle sauce! Thanks to everyone who made this wonderful weekend possible. To wrap it up, I made a video with some Abe facts. This video was directed by Eben, big thanks to the BirdKing, especially when I lost my phone. Cheers!

Day 15: Baby Appliqué Abe

I was looking at my favorite bunch of fabric for Inspirado today. What do I have laying around that I can use? I made this because even the littlest of people should sport their Abe love.

Day 14: Working Man Zombie Abe

Johnny was cool enough to surprise me with a sweet present. A calendar with little cutouts to make your own zombies! Yes! So, for the month of January was this little office worker zombie...and I couldn't resist Abe-ing him up!

Day 13: Haiku for Abe, My Love

I've been running all over like a mad person today. While out and about, my musings turned to Abe as they often do and I wrote him this Haiku.

Time lays between us
House divided, can it stand?
Oh my darling Abe.

Whenever there's a less time consuming piece you can bet there's an awesome one on the way. Don't judge me. Be patient.

Day 12: Bird Feeder Abe

Garett Grow's visit was so awesome. Thanks for coming down to visit, I hope I get to see you again soon. Hopefully when there's all kinds of good weather in your neck of the woods.
While Garett was in town we worked together on an epic Abe Feeder that he was inspired to create on a field trip to the Dollar Store. This is my favorite Abe so far!

Day 11: Coffee Sleeve Abe

An Abe is taking longer than expected so I'll use an impromptu one I made at work on a coffee sleeve.

Monday, January 10, 2011

Day 10: Emancipation Pandamation

It's been all music all day at my house, but I had time to take a break and make a Panda Abe.

Also, my little big sister was out shopping today and found this awesome Abe.

Day 9: Abe Car Freshener

Garret and I have had quite the day. We went on a hike in Boulder City, went to the Boulder Dam Hotel for food and watched Jonah Hex and Inception. So, be understanding that we didn't have much time for Abe, but there was time for this!

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Day 8: Corazón de Abe

Garret is kind enough to be visiting from Reno and it is his duty to help me with the Abe-ing while he is staying. We made a journey to $1 store and Garret came up with idea of a Corazón de Abe. I thought it might be a bit blasphemous, but when he asked we what my problem was with our Lord and Savior, I honestly didn't have a good retort handy. And then this happened.

We watched a wicked awesome conspiracy theory show on the History Channel about how John Wilkes Boothe got away. I was eating it all up, I believed each lead they followed. At the end, I gave up, I believe nothing until there is conclusive DNA tests done. Then we went out drinking all night, because that's apparently the only way I know how to play tour guide. Tomorrow, the west side of town is getting destroyed, so wear your pretty dress Fremont.

Day 7: BanjAbe

I've been listening to the new Iron & Wine record all night. I have a friend visiting from Reno, so I was using it as motivation to clean. I may have gotten a bit loopy over the cleaning fumes and my lemon vodka, but suddenly I realized I wanted to paint my banjo...with Abe on it. This is what happened.

Day 6: Yogi Abe

Lately I've been going to yoga everyday, so it only made sense that I would need a bag for my yoga mat that also incorporated the love I have for Abraham Lincoln.

Day 5: Candy Abe

Eben and I have been reading Adi's new book, Somewhere Over the Sun. It's awesome by the way, go read it immediately. We take turns reading chapters to each other. I especially like all the commentary I get from Eben as he's inspired by Adi's work. He keeps stopping and explaining why what was just said was so amazing, and how cool it is to have a window into such a unique mind. And it's true. Almost every line in the book describes something in the fullest, most accurate way you could imagine, but also in the most creative ways that you couldn't ever imagine. He's really an amazing writer.

Eben and I eat a ton of candy when we are together so it's only fitting that I make a Lincoln out of sour straws. While listening to Eben read a chapter I constructed this little guy. Then I ate him. He was delicious. Mochi got some, too. I promise tomorrow's won't be made out of food.

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Day 4: Abe Burger

A good deal of Abes are going to have to be made when I'm at work. Today's Lincoln was made out of my friend and coworker's healthy dinner of a bunless burger and broccoli. Thanks for letting me play with your food, Nikki! You're the sweetest.

Day 3: Abed Up Them Pants

I didn't know if I was going to do an Abe today. It was a rough day and I didn't feel like doing anything except go to bed. I'm going to have bad days, so this Abe-A-Day project has to find a way to be made in spite of it all. Actually, I set it up so that I would be forced to work through my moods so I sucked it up and I figured an Abe out. I needed to mend my friend's favorite pair of pants, so the patch that covers the hole got Lincolned. I hope these pants enable you to rock out and dance as hard as ever darlin.

Day 2: Lincoln Plate

I attempted to make an Abe earlier today that unfortunately was an epic failure. So, I reached for one of my simple projects that requires very few supplies. I made an Abe plate. All you need for this project is a glass plate from your local Dollar Store, some paint, a picture and time.

Day 1: Abraham Silhouette Purse

My first Abe of the year! This here is a purse I made using a damask fabric print and a silhouette of The Man himself. It turned out far from how I wanted it to, but this was the first purse I’ve ever tried to make. Next time, I’ll remember to assemble the thing in a different order and never use the soft type of fabric I picked out for the lining. All in all though, it isn’t bad for the first day of work.
